Chen Style Taijiquan (or Tai Chi Chuan) is an ancient Chinese art of exercise which is characterized by fluid, coiling movements punctuated with quick bursts of energy. It combines philosophy of Yin-Yang, knowledge of Traditional Chinese Medicine, and fighting techniques of the late Ming Dynasty. Chen Taijiquan cultivates both health benefits and self-defense skills. It can be practiced at any age and at any place. Chen Taiji incorporates barehanded routines along with weapon forms. Origin
Theory
Taiji strategy is based on blending and neutralizing icoming attack while capitlizing on the opponent's weakness.
Chen Taijiquan combines Chinese medicine, theories of Ying and Yang, and military knowledge of pre-firearm era. The philosophical and alchemical aspects are fused into practical biomechanics.
Creation of Chen Taijiquan attributed to retired Ming Dynasty military officer Chen Wangting (1600-1680). Aftre retirement he used medical scirpts of Yellow Emperor and combat manuals of general Qi Jiguang to creat taijiquan.
Method
The core taijiquan method consists of twining/coiling force known as "silk reeling". Silk reeling achieved through diligent body conditioning. That make taiji practitioners perfom slow pace.
Practice
Ultimate goal of Chen practitioner is longevity and well-being. Health cultivation is foundation of taijiquan. Weithout strong body there can be no martial arts.

Chen Yu is a 19th generation lineage holder in Chen Family Taijiquan and is the only son of Chen Zhaokui. He began studying Taiji with his father at the age of 7. He has spent many years of diligent work developing and preserving his father’s art. Chen Yu is known for his explosive power (or Fa Jin) as well as seizing (or Chin Na) techniques.
He carries forth the tradition of Chen Style Taijiquan by spreading the teaching of his father around the world. He teaches in many cities in China as well as in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore and Russia. In addition to China, Chen Yu has students in the USA, Canada, Germany, Russia and Italy
